This article is a paid political promotion on behalf of Michael Rossi’s campaign for State Representative of the 15th Legislative District. It was paid for by Rossi’s campaign and written by Michael Rossi. YBC has no official stance on any of the elections, but we believe that it is in everyone’s best interest to get to know each of the candidates.

My name is Michael Rossi, and I am a candidate for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 15th District. Throughout my entire life, I believe I have made a positive difference in the lives of those in the Center Area School District, and my extended community.

Recently, Harrisburg has become a society full of chest pounders and egotists.  Politics in Harrisburg has become a nasty game, where politicians win, and taxpayers lose.  At one time, Republicans and Democrats, who shared different views, resolved important issues to benefit their constituents. Somewhere along the way, the taxpayers have been forgotten. The current legislature has created many financial problems, a case in point is our education system. Pennsylvania’s schools are piling up enormous amounts of debt due to a lack of proper funding such as reimbursements for capital projects. While new building construction has left the burden in hands of the tax payers, it has also neglected its obligation to fund the education retirement system (PSERS).

Harrisburg has become a stagnant place, where nothing is being accomplished, and the residents of Pennsylvania are suffering. Our children, our schools, the working class, unions, senior citizens, small businesses, and many more, are feeling the pain from a lack of leadership in Harrisburg. Candidates are put in office to serve those who elected them. I am confident, that when elected, I will serve with the utmost professionalism and sincerity. This tug of war played by the legislature must stop right now. The only way to make forward progress is to elect people who put others in front of themselves, and to elect candidates who are there to serve, and not for personal gain.

My history as a public servant reflects the way government is intended to run. As a school board member, I made many tough decisions, some that were popular and some that were not.  Every decision I made was always in the best interest of our school and community. In my second term as a board member and President, myself and fellow board members took on one of the most challenging issues one can imagine: the merging of two school districts. Fearing a loss of identity for both districts, and facing unknown challenges, groups from both districts rallied against the possibility of a merger. It took months of hard work, fact finding, and educating the public, to convince the two communities that a merger was in the best interest of not only the community, but more importantly the students represented by those communities. Today, the Central Valley School District offers more to our students than the two separated districts could ever imagine. I am extremely proud of my involvement in the first voluntary school merger in Pennsylvania.

In addition to my community service, shortly after being hired by Verizon Communications, I became a Union Representative for the Communications Workers of America. I eventually worked hard to become a Unit President, serving nearly 300 union brothers and sisters. Like the school board, I have been faced with many challenges and tough decisions as a union representative, all along keeping in mind that the decisions I made were in the best interest of the membership.

I am a hardworking and a proud family man. I am married to Mary Jane Gallo-Rossi and we have four children: Jessica Rossi, Danielle Rebich, and her husband Jerrod, our son Michael, and our daughter Isabella. I have two grandchildren, Amira Grace and Remi Alexandra, with a third grandchild on the way! I have been the Public Address Announcer for the Center Area, and now Central Valley School Districts, for the past 36 years. I am also the voice of the National Champion “Pittsburgh Passion” professional women’s football league.  I was recently inducted into the Center High School Hall of Fame in 2015 for my countless contributions to the district. I am an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, where I serve as a Lector.

I am humbly asking for your vote on Tuesday April 26, 2016.

Vote Michael Rossi for Pennsylvania State Representative of the 15th district. A district serving Brighton Twp. Beaver, Center Twp., Frankfort Springs, Hanover Twp., Independence Twp., Potter Twp., Raccoon Twp., Vanport, and communities in Washington County.

Thank you for your support.
