This article is sponsored by Chris Wagner and Mortgage Lending Solutions in Monaca. Chris is the consummate professional and extremely knowledgeable in the lending industry. Chris and his staff are leading the way in helping families secure the proper financing needed.

Speaking of his staff, we decided to feature Pete Roknich, who is a senior loan originator for MLS, this month. Like Chris, Pete is an expert in the industry. He’s been in the mortgage business for over 20 years, and he and Chris have a great relationship in and out of the office. “We see eye-to-eye on all mortgage topics,” Pete said.

Getting into the Mortgage Business

Roknich got into the mortgage industry in the mid-1990s, when he worked for Old Economy Mortgage, and their owners, Vernon Nola and Don Broman. He said, “I was in the finance and insurance industry, and they thought I would be a good fit in the mortgage industry and have never looked back.” He and Chris go back to his days at Old Economy Mortgage, when Chris was considered a competitor.

I have always known of Chris because Beaver County is a small place. Even though he was my competition during that time I always got good responses in the community about his abilities and ethics, so when I was making a transition it seemed like a ‘no brainer’ to work with and for him.”

He’s been a driving force in the success of MLS since he began, bringing with him professionalism, superior job knowledge, and an outgoing, and friendly personality. He noted that he and two other loan officers, Mark Holp and C.J. Williams, along with Chris Wagner, handle all of the mortgage workload.

The mortgage industry has changed greatly over the last 10 years, and we are always ahead of the curve when it comes to implementing these changes and keeping up with compliance. We are held to a higher standard than most of the retail shops so we must be licensed and tested on an on-going basis.”

This additional accountability that MLS must adhere to is another reason why they are the premier home lender in Beaver County.

I asked Pete about our recent articles on refinancing, and he noted that while they do a good bit of refinancing, their primary focus has been the purchase market. He also made sure to point out what great relationships they have with realtors around Beaver County, and how he enjoys that side of the business.

Pete at Home

On a personal level, Pete is originally from Midland, but now lives in Ohioville with his wife Cheryl, and their two sons, Hunter and Ryder. He’s run in several marathons and coaches his son’s youth football team. He’s a devoted husband and father.

Finally, I asked him how advertising with Your Beaver County has helped MLS. He said the impact is noted. “We get a lot of people telling us, ‘Hey I saw you on facebook.’ Exposure is very key to MLS. We are striving to be a household name in Beaver County and won’t stop until we get there.”

Editor’s Note: Pete has completed both a refinance and a separate purchase mortgage for Andy over the past few months. During that time, he was incredibly helpful and always available to answer any questions. Working with him made the entire process easier!
