POBC-Growing-the-Church-through-Our-Community-Outreach

“We have a great relationship with the Phoenix Center, that’s the mental health community here in Rochester. We have three events a year with them. We do a prom gown sale and all the gowns are sold for $5 a piece. The director brings the women up and they pick out a gown, have a girls day out, go to lunch. And then the next week we have a prom. Patty from Patty’s Beauty Shop in Beaver comes and does hair and nails for them. It’s wonderful.

One of the things I always hoped was that the people who came to receive our services would be a part of those services, and they are now. We’re having a new member class of people who’ve joined the church [Faith Community United Methodist Church in Rochester] after meeting us through our community outreach.”

Erin Ninehouser loves photography for its ability to reveal truths and insights that are often too difficult to capture with words. She believes, as Garrison Keillor says through his troubled yet triumphant character Barbara in Pontoon, that “the only sermon that counts is the one formed by our actions.” A native of New Castle, Erin has made her home in Ambridge where she lives happily with her wonderful husband Dave, their three adorable and hilarious cats, and their “old gentleman” dog, Max. Erin is excited to help tell the stories of the people of Beaver County. You can see more of her work on Facebook and connect on Instagram or Twitter.
