Our beloved county is well known for its once booming steel mills, beautiful bridges, and some of the best professional athletes this side of the Mississippi. This is definitely something to be proud of, but let’s not forget to mention our commitment and love for our favorite Pizza Spots!
It would be an understatement if we said Beaver County was home to some of the best pizza in the region. Making a decision can be difficult at times. For me, it’s easier to choose between the first and second Godfather, rather than what pizza to eat.
We were born into a pizza-utopia. Pizza-mediocrity isn’t something we comprehend, and deciding who’s the best is no easy task. It may be easier to pick a favorite child or a favorite Beatles song!
As I set out to name the county’s best pizza spots, I knew I couldn’t please everyone with my choices. I was guaranteed to put on a few extra pounds revisiting some old favorites. So with the help of some fellow pizza lovers with the taste for perfection, here is the top 5 Pizza Spots in Beaver County.
#5 – Villa Di Pizza – Aliquippa
Attention Pizza Fanatics: The following pizza is thin and crispy. Don’t approach the counter! Don’t talk on your phone! Don’t walk outside without permission!
If you’ve been to Villa Di’s Pizza then you know exactly what I’m talking about. There is a long list of rules to abide by, and Villa Di’s owner “Chubby” has no problem enforcing them. All the rules are displayed for your viewing pleasure. It’s always better to be prepared, so ask a regular customer.
If you have no problem following rules, then sit back, relax, and enjoy the only pizza of its kind. Just remember not to order FIVE with sausage!!!
#4 – Antony’s Pizzeria – Beaver Valley Mall, Monaca
A shopping mall food court is not the first place that comes to mind when seeking out a great pizza joint. Antony’s Pizzeria at the Beaver Valley Mall is the obvious exception. They have been serving up authentic New York style slices for years, and it’s no question they know how to take care of business.
Hand tossed perfection offered up by the slice or whole pie. Antony’s is a Beaver County headliner – 7 days a week. It’s your one stop shop for a slice of New York Pizza Heaven.
#3 – Wooley Bully’s – New Brighton
If it’s not on your list, it’s because you haven’t tried it. My adventure finally led me to New Brighton, to check out a neighborhood bar that serves pizza. Let me tell you – It was love at first bite with their incredible crust and robust sauce.
I assure you all the hype is justified with this little juke joint. It’s a slam dunk on creativity with specialty pizzas like The Big Mac and Wedding Soup. Their range of toppings exceeds any pizza lover’s imagination.
For me, what puts them in the rankings is their traditional pizza. My wife and I went with a large half-pepperoni on our first visit. Deliciousness confirmed. As a pizza lover I can promise you won’t be disappointed.
#2 – Frank’s Pizzeria – Ambridge
No Top Five list would be complete without Frank’s Pizza on Duss Avenue. Ambridge is no stranger to Pizza at its best. For over 50 years Frank’s has been leading the pack in pizza perfection with their cheese-under-the-sauce technique.
It all comes together with family, fresh dough, and in my opinion; the best sauce around! It’s no question that Frank’s is a Beaver County legend and likely #1 on some lists. It can be a lengthy wait at times but it’s well worth it.
#1 – “Police Station Pizza” Pizza House – Ambridge
Proof is in numbers, and with this pizza giant it’s no question they’re #1. Even being an Aliquippa native who still loves Breezy’s Pizza, I have to give it to Police Station Pizza for bringing home the gold in Pizza Greatness! Still operating out of a cash box, these guys pack the house as soon as they turn the key.
I will not attempt to describe the pizza because if you haven’t had it, then you should be voted off the island! Pepperoni and Un-melted Extra Cheese Please!
