It’s no secret that my absolute favorite place to eat dinner in Beaver County is Hollywood Gardens in Rochester. Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of great places that I really enjoy eating dinner, but the best of the best…for my money…is always going to be Hollywood.

For me, Hollywood Gardens is the total package. It’s got a cool, funky ambiance. The food is dynamite. And there are always at least a few solid IPAs on tap. What’s not to love, right?

I’ve been eating at Hollywood for years, and I’ve tried just about everything on the menu. But there are a few killer options that really stand out. So for this week’s “Top Five” article, I thought it would be a fun idea to break down my absolute favorite menu items.

5. Chicken Bruschetta Sandwich

This is basically just a chicken sandwich topped with some bruschetta, but it is actually the key that opens up every other menu option at Hollywood Gardens for me. That’s because it is something that Mrs. YBC absolutely loves!

One of her favorite aspects of this sandwich is that she can get it on a pretzel bun.

4. The Cheeseboards

We don’t usually go out to eat with parties big enough to order more than one appetizer, but we also don’t party like the Beaverhausens do. When they head to Hollywood, Ana says that she always insists on building one of their famous cheese boards.

This is actually a pretty brilliant concept. The menu has a list of great cheeses, meats, and “accompaniments” like marinated olives, roasted tomatoes, and candied walnuts. You can pick as many options as you like and it will be priced accordingly.

3. Creamy Spinach & Artichoke Dip

When Mr. & Mrs. YBC head out for our Wednesday date night, we love to dive into an order of this spinach and artichoke dip. As far as we can tell, it’s the best in Beaver County…by a mile. I’m not exactly sure how to describe it, but you can just tell that this dip is made from ridiculously fresh ingredients.

2. The Frank E Burger

I passionately argued with Corey for weeks that Hollywood Gardens has the best burger in Beaver County, and he definitely agrees that it deserved a spot on his list. I really like their spicy Nihilist Burger, but the Frank E Burger is my go-to choice for dinner.

This banging burger is cooked perfectly and then topped with carmelized onions, Fontinella cheese, and apple wood bacon. The bacon is thick and delicious, the cheese adds a unique flavor that you won’t find on the average burger, and the carmelized onions…they are just the perfect way to complete the perfect burger as far as I’m concerned.

Pro Tip: I like to order a side of Rochester Hot Sauce or Insane BBQ to put on top of my Frank E Burger…maybe one day that’ll make the menu as “The YBC Burger.”

1. Deep Fried Chicken Thighs

I’ll never forget the first time I saw chicken thighs on the menu. I didn’t quite get it at first. But after a few minutes it struck me as absolutely brilliant. Let me help you along that path…they’re like chicken wings…but they’re thighs instead. Still deep fried and covered with sauce, but bigger, meatier, and juicier.

Now deep fried chicken thighs alone are a killer concept. But when you add in the fact that Hollywood Gardens has 14 different delicious sauces to choose from….game changer.

I like to start with at least one Rochester Hot Sauce Thigh, which is a 4 on their scale of 1-10 for spiciness. When I’m in the mood to kick it up, I’ll also try the Insane BBQ and the Nihilist, which have heat levels of 8 and 9 respectively. I’ve never had the guts to try their hottest sauce, Abidance, but I’m sure it’s mind blowing.

If I need a break to cool things down, I sometimes opt for a Garlic-Parmesan thigh, which boasts a heat level of 1.

Lucky for me, our date nights tend to fall on Wednesdays…which just happens to be “99 Cent Thigh Night” at Hollywood Gardens. It must be meant to be, right?

Honorable Mention: Face Melt Steak Tacos

I don’t get the chance to order these very often (because I almost always focus on the top three), but when I do venture outside my usuals, the Face Melt Steak Tacos are always fantastic. They’re also a favorite choice of YBC contributor David James. Best part, they come with your choice of the thigh sauces!

If I’m missing one of your favorite options from Hollywood, don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments below. And if you haven’t been over there for dinner yet, what on earth are you waiting for?
