There’s a simple philosophy I have when determining whether a restaurant is good or great. Friendly service, atmosphere, beer selection, and of course being kid friendly are the obvious factors when deciding. What trumps all of that, is the ability to have quality and quantity coexist in perfect harmony.

The Palms Brazilian Steakhouse has done just that… perfecting their craft while satisfying on all levels.

A Little Bit About The Palms

Attention food lovers: In the heart of the Green Garden Plaza sits the Palms Brazilian Steakhouse. Conveniently located on Interstate-376 between Chippewa and the Pittsburgh International Airport, is a restaurant experience like no other.

A 6,800 sq ft. facility that offers lunch, dinner, an all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch, and the most popular and much talked about, Gaucho service. Flavor is their specialty, no matter what road you take. It’s an ironclad steakhouse with a Brazilian twist.

You’ll be glad to know that the Palms is locally owned and operated by lifelong Beaver County resident Jim Behrle.

I recently had a chance to sit down with Jim for a little Q&A. I was curious, so I asked, “Why open a Brazilian Steakhouse in Beaver County?” He said, “I just really love the idea behind it and we didn’t have anything like it in the area.”

When the Palms opened back in 2013, I picked up on what the glass-half-empty-crowd had to say. “Why would you open a Brazilian Steakhouse next to Giant Eagle?” But now I say . . . “WHY NOT?”

The parking is effortless and it’s a central location to the bulk of our county. The variety is on point and you’ll be quick to realize what we had been missing.

Family Night Out (The Gaucho Experience)

The Palms Gaucho Service is a continuous tableside service of up to 18 different savory cuts of beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and seafood, that are hand-carved by their trained Gauchos.

The rules are simple. The only thing that stands between you and a self induced meat-coma is a two-toned wooden peg. Green means keep it coming, red means slow it down.

Simply flip the peg to green-side-up and the marathon of tableside meat carving begins.

We’re not talking about Old Country Buffet ham and roast beef here. We’re talking about cooked to perfection, well seasoned, prime cuts of meat. They even offer grilled pineapple…which is delicious.

Whenever you feel like you need a break, which ultimately has to be a table vote, then flip the peg to red-side-up and take a breather. Some of my personal favorites are all of the steak cuts, chicken wrapped in bacon, and the succulent lamb chops.

Right about now you’re probably asking yourself, “Who would want to sit there and eat just meat all evening?” And that’s a great question. The answer is simple though, as the hand carved meats are just the tip of the iceberg!

When ordering the Gaucho Service you also have the privilege of enjoying the Palm’s hot and cold bar. It’s packed with fresh salad mixes, a variety of pastas, soup, vegetables, and other great daily rotating hot and cold items. And if you’re a seafood lover like me, then you’ll be delighted to know that they have all-you-can-eat crab legs, peel and eat shrimp, and raw oysters! All of this is available with the Gaucho dinner service.

With a vegetarian wife, the idea of any steakhouse (let alone a Brazilian steakhouse), can be a tough sell. Luckily, my wife is a vegetarian who eats seafood (I think it’s called a pescatarian), so for a discounted price she can enjoy the hot and cold bar without the Gaucho service. If Momma’s happy, then everyone’s happy.

It’s More Than Meets The Eye

What you may not know is that in addition to the only Gaucho service in the county, The Palm’s also has a full lunch and dinner menu with some of the best food around. They offer appetizers, salads, steaks, seafood, burgers, and other great sandwiches.

Their burger is one of my favorites. As a self-proclaimed burger connoisseur, I’ll put it up against any burger in the area…including the recently popular burger restaurants in and around the city of Pittsburgh.

It starts with premium beef that’s ground in-house, cooked to order, and ends with me saying, “Wow, where have you been all of my life?”

Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm they have an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for under ten bucks! It’s loaded with all the good stuff: pizza, wings, pierogies, and meatloaf just to name a few.

They keep it fresh and switch it up often, so check it out for yourself. You can find them at or on Facebook where they update lunch and dinner specials.

The opportunity presented itself, so I asked Jim, “What’s your favorite thing on the menu?” He replied with a one word answer: “EVERYTHING!”

The Palms has a full service bar with top shelf liquor, over 20 wines, and 12 rotating taps. They have a 1/2 off happy hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm all week long. If it’s been a long work week, stop down on Fridays where you’ll find large drafts for $1 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Wait a second…a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA for a DOLLAR? Yes, Please!

Although The Palms doesn’t seem like a craft beer destination, I assure you they have some solid beers on tap.

Valuable Information

The Palms has a food truck that you’ll see out and about once the weather warms up which is also available for private events.

Sorry . . . they’re closed on Mondays.

They have an all-you-can-eat brunch on Sundays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm with seafood, carved meats, and a waffle station until 2:00 pm, which then turns into a pasta station.

I forgive you for whatever reason that has kept you from checking out The Palms. After today though, it’s on you.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind dinner experience, lunch with some friends, a few cocktails, or maybe even brunch with the in-laws, then look no more! The Palms Brazilian Steakhouse has got you covered.
