While it might seem a little premature to be talking about Christmas events, we are only tow days away from Thanksgiving, which will be followed by Black Friday and the official start of the holiday shopping season. It’s probably not necessary for me to dress up the site with Christmas lights and pictures of Santa Claus, but I would be doing the readers a disservice if I failed to mention the upcoming Beaver County Festival of Trees at Brady’s Run Park.
This year will be the 25th year for the event, which will be held in the lodge at Brady’s Run Park. The entire building will be filled with a wide variety of different themed Christmas trees that have been decorated and donated by local residents and businesses. Following their display at the two-week event, all of the trees will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to local charities.
Tonight is the official light-up night for all of the trees, which will be on display for the public starting on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The festival will then be open from noon to 9:00 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, December 5, and then from noon to 9:00 pm on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7. There will also be plenty of holiday-themed musical entertainment scheduled on each day of the event.
If you happen to see a tree that you might like to bid on, the auction will take place on Wednesday, December 10 with doors opening at 5:00 pm and the bidding kicking off at 6:00 pm. All money raised through the auction will be donated to the Children and Youth Services Advisory Board and the U.S. SARR Corps.
