Back in March I felt like I was commenting on how nice the weather was every single weekend. But so far in April, things haven’t been so great. But that is all supposed to change this weekend!

With sunny skies and highs of 67, 70, and 74 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, this is going to be the first fabulous spring weekend of the year. Make sure you get out and enjoy it!

Friday, April 15

Art Expressions Exhibit

There will be a number of creative and talented local artists displaying their work at the Center at the Mall in the Beaver Valley Mall this weekend. Artists will be on hand to talk about their work on Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm.

Exploring the Historic Titanic

Ok, now this one is really cool. Rhonda Wozniak, who graduated from Ambridge High School, will be at the Laughlin Memorial Free Library at 6 pm on Friday night speaking about her experiences as the Objects Conservator on the 1994 expedition that actually found the remains of the Titanic!

Theater – The Little Mermaid

Our friends at Lincoln Park will be performing the Broadway version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid this weekend with junior Rachel Mracna playing the lead role of Ariel. Show times are at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday evening, and then at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon.

Bobcat Players Presents “Twelve Angry Men”

The Bobcat Players will be performing the classic drama “Twelve Angry Men” at the Beaver High School Auditorium this weekend. There are 7:30 pm showtimes both Friday and Saturday this weekend.

Oldies Night Presented By Genevans

The fabulous Genevans will also be performing this weekend at the John White Chapel at Geneva College. This weekend, the performance will features all of your favorite oldies. Showtimes are at 7:30 pm both Friday and Saturday night, and this one is completely free to attend!

Kegs & Eggs for Craft Beer Week

In order to kick off Pittsburgh Craft Beer week in the right way, Bocktown will be hosting a Kegs & Eggs event on Saturday starting at 8 am!

Our friends from Spilt Personality and Wildwood Boutique are teaming up with Restyle to host a Health, Wellness, and Beauty Expo at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be lots of great speakers scheduled!

MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run Competition

The Hopewell Township Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting a competition of baseball and softball skills for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 at Hopewell High School starting at 1 pm Saturday morning.

Live Music – Olga Watkins

Olga Watkins will be performing as Bocktown’s Saturday Acoustic Showcase this weekend. The music kicks off at 3 pm!

Stargazing Party

The Beaver County Amateur Astronomers will be hosting another Stargazing Party at Brady’s Run Park this Saturday night. The f un starts right at dusk, and don’t worry, there will be plenty of telescopes to go around.

Sunday, April 17

Pancake Breakfast

The New Brighton Lions Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Lighthouse for the Blind on Sunday morning from 8 am to 1 pm.

Ambridge Fire Department Chili Cook-Off

The Ambridge Fire Department and the Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge are hosting a chili cook-off at the fire department from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday. I’m not great at making chili, and I don’t care for red kidney beans, but I do love the spicy ones!

A Chocolate Sunday

Last year, Marc and Maura covered A Chocolate Sunday at Seven Oaks Country Club and they could not have been more impressed. This year, the event is back and bigger than ever. It takes place this coming Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm and all proceeds go to benefit The Marion Gordon Auxiliary for McGuire Memorial Home. If you love chocolate, then this is one you won’t want to miss.

In The Big City

If you are looking to head up to Pittsburgh this weekend, you might want to check out Steel City Con at the Monroeville Convention Center. Celebrities like Shannen Doherty, Jon Heder, Drew De Matteo, Barbara Eden, and Scott Wilson are scheduled to be there!

The Pirates are also home this weekend. The Brewers are coming to town and there are some great promotions for each game. Friday is free t-shirt night, Saturday is fireworks night, and all kids in attendance on Sunday will receive a Josh Harrison Gnome.

Oh yeah, and it’s also the NHL playoffs. So don’t forget about Pens/Rangers on Saturday!
