There is a new event this year in Beaver, and I am pretty excited about it!! Stray Cat Studio has put together an entire month long celebration of art throughout Beaver and Lawrence counties, and this Saturday, October 1st, is Beaver’s turn in the event!

It is called an Art Walk, which has people asking questions about what exactly will be going on. No, you won’t be walking on art… or walking artistically through town – although, I wouldn’t mind seeing some people doing some synchronized dance steps or something… just sayin…

Anyway, the Art Walk through the town is set up very well, and is a fairly simple concept! Local businesses are paired up with local artisans and both are open for business. Some businesses have their own ‘in house’ artist. Like Beaver Yarn Shoppe’s owner Susan Cawthern and her amazing knits. She will be knitting and showing folks what amazing things she creates! Next door to Susan is The Art Studio, owned by the very talented Carol Begley. When you enter the stairwell up to these two unique stores, you are joined by works of both Susan and Carol’s art on the walls. Carol will be displaying oil and pastel paintings, among her other works. Mike Cirelli of Cirelli Jewelers is also a very talented artist and will be showing off some of his beautifully unique pieces. He not only designs jewelry, but also etches metal AND he does engraving on guitars too! Check that out here! Then of course you have the folks coordinating this event, Courtney-Laughlin Frame Studio & Gallery, will have two artists there! Douglas David, metal smith, will be displaying his amazing reenactment armor, and Sally Sheffler will have her watercolors on display. Don’t forget though, inside Courtney-Laughlin at any time are some truly impressive art pieces. When I last stopped, she had an entire collection of pastel work that was so realistic, it was hard to imagine someone drew it! Art in another form will be out at Soap Alchemy! The owner Jordan will be holding soap making demos all day. Let me tell you something about Jordan. I mentioned a little bit of dry skin on my face, he scurried into his back room (which I imagine to look something like an evil scientists lab) and came out with an oil made specifically for my skin by him. Right there, on the spot! There is definitely an art to that!

Some stores will be having specials to go along with the Art Walk. RESTYLE is offering a free gift with a $75 purchase as Rickie O’Brien displays works in oil and pastels. The Shirley Shoppe has a special bracelet designer there all day. Her name is Krystyna and her newest line of It’s A Wrap bracelets will be available for purchase and she will also be accepting special orders. Sweet As Studios very own Lenny Ricciardi is teaming up with Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop to introduce everyone to a new line of sticker vending machines, as well as to let everyone in on some of his new works. Also, the rumor is that there are several Golden Tickets available to the ever popular candy buffet! Bring your quarters!

AllState Insurance: The Pollick Agency around the corner from Starbucks will have two artists! Eusopia will be inside with their homemade soaps, sugar scrubs, bath soaks and lotions. These are all so fragrant and leave your skin feeling AHmazing. Give them a try, you will not regret. Along with the soaps, Linda Santeufemia will have some works in oil.

Don’s Deli, the newest (soon to be) eatery and market in town, is going to have their woodcraft artist, Vinzo Woodcrafts, displaying his beautiful wine stoppers and bowls. Don’s also will have YBC’s very own award winning photographer, Erin Ninehouser! In addition to that art, Don’s will be serving art on plates in the form of buratta cheese served with fresh Fellowship Foods Roma tomatoes, baguettes and finishes with a drizzle of Two Rivers Basil Infused Olive Oil. They are also going to have some local Honeycrisp apples with sticky toffee cheese, the same stuff they had at the wine festival – because so many people loved it! AND the Boar’s Head hot dog cart will be there with delicious Boar’s Head all beef dogs, kraut and mustard. Mmm. Meaty.

Jeppie has Pam Rezatanno with her pottery, Bovard Anderson has Cassidy Griffin with her watercolors, Castle Toys has Hannah Wilson painting (get this!!) Disney PRINCESSES out of WATERCOLOR!

Was I right about all of those hyperlinks or what?! More coming…

Generations has Summer Mortimer with personalized pottery. Two Rivers Olive Oil has wheel thrown stoneware by Tammy Mignanelli. Patty’s Beauty Salon has a quilting display and a sewing machine demo by Wilda & Wasyl. Miller’s Shoes has Barbara Tutwiler, Sieger’s Jewelry has Nicholas Mosura and his watercolor works.

Whew. I think that was all of them (my sincerest apologies if I missed any artists or businesses!! Email me and I will add them in if any were inadvertently left out!!) You guys, do you have any idea how long it took me to copy and paste all of those links? Please don’t disappoint me. Click them.

Anyway, the Art Walk is bound to be a terrific time, rain or sun! Go get yourself a Boar’s Head dog from Don’s and get your art stagger on! Woo, go art!
