Six reasons you should be at Wright Field on July 29th. The Vine of the Valley Festival will take place at Wright field at Veteran’s Park off of 37th Street Extension in Chippewa. It will run from 3 – 8 p.m. on the 29th. This will be the first year for Vine of the Valley and should be on everyone’s radar for next weekend. The event will cover two of the multi-purpose fields and multiple tents will be set up for guests to relax and socialize. There’s plenty of parking at the fields as well.
Bushy Run, Deer Creek, Greenhouse Winery, Kavic Winery, Mazza Vineyards & Wilhelm Winery will be serving samples of their best wines. These regional wineries and vineyards each have a unique process to get to the completed product you will be sampling. Representatives will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. Find one (or two or three) you like! All the wineries will have bottles for purchase at the event.
Wine isn’t the only thing happening at Vine of the Valley. Tyson Smith, Chairperson for Vine of the Valley says, “We wanted to create a fun event that brings county residents together, and showcases some of the great businesses that already exist in the area as well.” Case in point: Beaver County is finally seeing an upswing in food trucks—some stand-alone and some extensions of local restaurants. To balance all that wine tasting, stop by Papa Dukes, Curbside Cocina, Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ, and The Nutty Bavarian and see what all the buzz around the food truck phenomenon is about.
King Beaver Cigars will also be there and the organizers have set up a cigar lounge adjacent to them. I have to admit, I am no cigar aficionado, but a cigar lounge at a wine festival sounds so cool, I’m definitely going to check it out. Exhibitors with items for sale are peppered between wineries, food trucks guest & VIP tents and the cigar lounge. Browse as you stroll through Wright Field sipping your wine. Crowd favorite Mack & Mario will have their truck there, as well as Lipsense, Young Living Oils, Usborne Books & More, Vintage Brace Boutique, Mary Kay, and LuLaRoe.
Wright Field @ Veteran’s Park is a premier sporting complex that continues to grow in Chippewa. What started 12 years ago as a study about what Beaver County was missing from a recreational standpoint, has turned into an amazing sporting complex. It boasts two little league baseball fields, seven multi-purpose fields that can be used for football, soccer or lacrosse, walking trails and plenty of parking. These fields were possible through grants and donations. Chippewa Township Manager Mark Taylor told me the next level will be to build a field house with team rooms with a large upstairs area. “We’ve been very fortunate,” Taylor tells me, “We received a grant to purchase the property and build the baseball fields. We had a generous donation to develop the 7 multi-purpose fields. Now PUSH Beaver County has partnered with this wine event to help get us to the next phase of growth with the field house. We are elated that someone else wants to get involved. All proceeds from this event are going to the park.” As with all events PUSH Beaver County sponsors, money raised from the event will get back into the community. Proceeds for this event will go back to the park to help make the field house a reality. A recent one day lacrosse tournament brought 1500 visitors and participants to the area. Local businesses are seeing the benefits as well. Taylor envisions more sporting events and specialty events like Vine of the Valley in the future.
Stick around later in the evening for Christian Beck Band performing covers of your country favorites as well as some original songs. The band has been making quite a name for itself locally and is beginning to see regional and national exposure as well. If you haven’t experienced the Christian Beck Band, it’s time you did! They play a great mix of country rock and always have the crowd on their feet.
You can look for the event on Facebook under Vine of the Valley Wine Festival or PUSH BC.
