Zookys Wings

There are no shortage of places for locals to find great chicken wings in the County. Like pizza, Beaver Countians love to debate who has the best. Below I’ve compiled a list of the top places for chicken wings. I’ve consulted with local wing experts, along with my own experiences at these local establishments.

I remember my middle school gym teacher, Mr. Nick Yewcic, telling me, “The dirty places have the best wings.” I wouldn’t necessarily call these places dirty, but they do have some very good wings. Ranking the top five is like splitting hairs, as they all have exceptional chicken wings and could essentially be interchangeable.

5. Robert’s Roadside – Bridgewater

Wings are the centerpiece of Robert’s Roadside menu, and one of the reasons why Robert’s is so well-known among diners in Beaver County. Patrons can order wings by the pound – ¼, ½ or a full pound of wings, while choosing from 15 different kinds of sauces.

4. Kendrew’s Lounge – Aliquippa

It seems like every bar in Beaver County has a wing night, and Kendrew’s holds their wing nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For around $2.50, you can get a basket of eight wings covered in a plethora of flavors. My favorite is the hot cajun. The only drawback is that the wait times can often be a little lengthy as the crowds can sometimes swell inside the former roller rink.

3. Bowser’s Restaurant – Center Township

Bowser’s menu claims to have “Beaver County’s Best Wings.” Diners can choose from 14 different flavors, the most popular being wing dust and buffalo ranch. Bowser’s does have some pretty good wings, and they were a consensus pick among the wing experts I’ve talked to.

I’ve never had a bad experience eating at Bowser’s, not only in the wings department, but their food in general. Like the Backdoor, Bowser’s is a model of consistency.

2. Backdoor Tavern – Fallston

The Backdoor Tavern is legendary, and is one of the top places not only for wings, but for food in general, in Beaver County. Their wings are top notch. They come in a variety of flavors, and are cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

1. Zooky’s Sports Tavern – Fallston

Zooky’s is the king of wings in Beaver County. I don’t want to say they are the undisputed king, but in my opinion, it’s pretty clear. They are located within an earshot of other establishments on this list, but Zooky’s stands out among the competition.

Zooky’s has an extensive menu, but their wings are their hallmark. You can choose from 30 different kinds of sauces. Zooky’s even has a disclaimer on their menu asking patrons to be patient while they cook your wings to perfection.

Honorable mention:

Conway Pizza (Conway) – Sports talk radio host Mark Madden’s favorite wings in Pittsburgh.

Lil Joe’s (Beaver Falls) – One of the most popular places to eat and drink in Beaver Falls.

Talerico’s (Ambridge) – A household name among diners in Ambridge and Beaver County.

Main Street Bar (Aliquippa) – One of the few places that serve whole wings.

Harold’s Inn (Hopewell) – Their mountain-style seasoning is incredible.
