top-five-halloween-decorations-in-beaver-county

One of the most fun article writing experiences I have had in the past year was driving around taking pictures of Halloweeen decorations all over Beaver County last year. Once again this year, I set out to find the very best Halloween decorations in the county.

After viewing all of the suggestions first-hand, I put together an advanced mathematical rating system to properly quantify each house’s value according to number of lights, scare factor, general creepiness, amount of effort, and overall tastefulness.

What follows, are the results of those calculations….and the Top Five Halloween Decoration Houses in Beaver County. (OK, there isn’t really any advanced math here…..I just went off of which ones impressed me the most….)

5. TIE – Dutch Ridge Road and Tuscarawas Road, Beaver/Brighton Twp.

I went around and around trying to decide which one of these houses should take the fifth spot, but I just couldn’t bring myself to relegate either to honorable mention status. Both of these houses are located on super high traffic roads and both do a great job of calling attention to themselves.

All of the little candy corn lights in front of the house on Tusca make you feel like your walking through the game of Candyland, and the Dutch Ridge house seems to have more and more detail every time I look at it.

4. Third Street, Beaver

Not sure how I glossed over this one on last year’s list, but this house on Third Street in Beaver right across from the cemetery is always on point when it comes to decorations for any ┬áholiday. Ana actually had the chance to interview the owner earlier this year and he is an awesome guy.

This one also gets bonus points because, well…who doesn’t love the Peanuts characters?

3. 16th & 20th, Patterson Township

This one is Mrs. YBC’s favorite, so once again she is going to be mad at me over one of these top five lists. I would definitely say that this is the creepiest house of the bunch. It also has the most life-like dead things in the yard.

2. The First One on Indiana Ave, Monaca

The award for biggest improvement over last year definitely goes to my neighbors on the 1000 block of Indiana Ave in Monaca. Sharing a picture of this house on Facebook last year was what started the whole idea for “Best Halloween Decorations,” and they have really stepped up their game this year. It actually looks like they have expanded into their neighbor’s yard.

1. The Original on Indiana Ave, Monaca

While the competition is definitely tougher this year, the Bardells at the end of Indiana Ave in Monaca still have a strangle hold on this contest. Their effort is unparralelled. If you’ve never seen their house at night, it is an absolute must-see…and the winner for Best Halloweeen Decorations in Beaver County two years in a row!

With the 2015 competition in the bag, many of these winners will already be starting to plan how they can one-up each other next Halloween. It’ll be curious to see who puts in the effort to knock off the Bardell’s house. They will definitely have their work cut out for them.
