Beaverhausen Baby #3 has arrived! I have baby on the brain, so here is a little tidbit on new baby gifting.

Whether you are looking for something for Mom, Dad, baby or the family, I’ve got you covered with a couple suggestions of things that we really appreciated!

For the Baby:

Castle Toys and Gifts, Beaver

Sophie the Giraffe – This is the teething toy of the new generation, apparently. It wasn’t a thing when my teenager was a baby, but in the 15 years between him and my middle son, it came out of the French woodwork and is now commonplace.

I can’t really understand what makes it so irresistible to babies but it is. It is easy to hold and soft enough to bite. My toddler preferred to gnaw on her mouth, but some kids enjoy the feet or the ears. Whatever the preference, know that it will be covered in drool before you can say ‘teething baby’.

While the Sophie is a great choice as a baby gift, they do have a lot more options in the store. Another good choice are the animal baby mats. These are sort of like plush, cozy floor pillows for the tot. Also, they are ridiculously adorable! They grow with the baby, so you’ll be sure the little one will get plenty of use out of it.

Rome Inspirations, Rochester

Rome Inspirations is located caddy-corner to Rochester Giant Eagle. If you think that Rome Inspirations is only for memorial gifts, you are wrong! They have got the most adorable clothes and accessories for babies (and kids too, but this is a baby gift article).

Unique finds that you for sure won’t see in the chain stores in the mall. My gosh. There is so much cute, it hurts. No kidding. You will see these clothes and you will ache, because of how cute they are. They have both girls and boys clothes and accessories for both, including snuggle blankets. They make a great lovely for your new one.

For the Family

Roma Catering, Aliquippa

I know what you are thinking…. Newborns don’t eat lasagna. But let me tell you who does – Exhausted new parents.

Actually, those exhausted new parents will probably be eating PB&J or whatever they can slap together with one eye shut while holding a very small, very needy person if there isn’t some assistance.

Roma offers meals a couple different ways – On Thursdays and Sundays, you can get takeout dinners. The menu changes each month and they always have some delicious choices. OR, you can get catering sized frozen (or ready to serve) meals, like that lasagna your newborn won’t be eating or a pan of stuffed cabbage.

A gift card to Roma or even dropping off some food will be very much appreciated for the new parents! Roma is located in Sheffield Plaza in Aliquippa, right off of Broadhead Road.

Bella Baby Gift Card

If your friend had a baby at Heritage Valley Medical Center, the hospital photographer is a company called Bella Baby. They do fantastic work! Nothing like the newborn shots from years ago that the nurses would take.

The photographer comes with props and sets up the scene in the mom’s room. She snaps and snaps, and then returns in a bit with a link to the pictures…. And the price list. Yikes.

But, how can you possibly say no to the pictures of your newest bundle!? Why not give the family something that they will put to good use immediately! Bella Baby gift cards are available, and I’m certain they would be well received.

For the Mom:

Take Out

This is big. If you are visiting the new Mom in the hospital and you go in sans food, well.. you might get kicked out. Kidding (not kidding).

Hospital food is pretty, um, how should I say…. Gross? I most certainly depended on the Mister and other family members to bring me something to eat. We had Buzzi’s pizza, Beaver Bagel Company breakfast, and Heirloom dinner. It was lovely! Nothing helps recovery time like a prosciutto wedge salad and cheese platter.

Whatever your Mom’s fancy, make that happen. A person can get pretty hungry bringing someone into the world!

The Salon on 3rd, Beaver

Pregnancy really takes its toll on a lady and so does having a newborn in the house. You just don’t feel like yourself. A few hours of pampering is just what the doctor should order during your (typically) six week recovery time.

Heck, even washing the baby schmutz out of your hair is a welcomed change!

Katie, the owner, has a great salon with an Irish feel. She does cuts, colors, nails, whatever you need. A gift card to the new mom (and if you’re feeling really nice, maybe the offer to babysit while she is there!) would be such a welcomed treat. There are so, so many salons in the area – This is just the one that I would recommend!

Stems by Syd, Bridgewater

This one is a no brainer. Flowers are always a good choice, but before you go to the local pharmacy and snag something out of the cooler, drive through Bridgewater on your way to the Medical Center and check out Stems by Syd. She has such unique and beautiful arrangements that will brighten up Mom and Baby’s room!

Make sure you say something profound on the card too, because you know that is going right in the baby book. No pressure!

These were all things that we really appreciated, so hopefully the family you are celebrating will enjoy them as well! Off to sniff some more delicious baby head for now. Is there anything better?!?
