Our furry, four-legged child (AKA, Bailey the dog) was in desperate need of a grooming and I decided to start listening to the great things I’d been hearing about Soggy Doggy Pet Salon in Beaver and give them a call.

Shortly into our conversation, Missy Miley – owner and operator – informed me that she only grooms one dog at a time. “I don’t want the dogs to have to wait in a crate…oh, and is it alright if I give her a cookie?” she asked.

I was sold. And so was Bailey.

It’s easy to see how much Missy truly cares about the dogs she grooms. She not only wants to make the owner happy, but wants to make sure your dog has a good experience as well.

“I’ve always loved animals and groomed my own dogs. Opening my own salon was something I’ve wanted to do for years. I decided it was time to pursue my passion, so I quit my banking job in order to attend grooming school full-time.

“The plan was always to open my own shop because I couldn’t find the type of salon that followed my mission which is to provide individualized, one-on-one dog grooming in a safe, comfortable, pampering environment that focuses on the happiness and well-being of the dog.” explains Missy.

Soggy Doggy opened its doors on Third Street in Beaver in August, 2015. Missy offers full groom services for dogs that includes brushing, nail clipping/grinding, ear cleaning/plucking, bath with conditioner, sanitary clip, paw pad clipping and a hair cut.

Don’t need a hair cut for your pooch? Missy also offers bathing service that include nails and ear, as well as a la carte services such as nail clipping/grinding, teeth brushing, deep sea mineral mud treatment, brushes, sanitary trim, or paw pads and face trim.

In addition to making dogs look good, Soggy Doggy also sells a variety of quality pet products for both the dog and cat lover: from toys to the best cat flaps. Included in this variety, Missy sells gourmet, natural pet treats from local, family-owned business Furrever Friends in Enon Valley. She also swears by the vacuums found on sites like or and she sees a lot of pet hair so you can trust her expertise on this one. She prefers to choose products that you wouldn’t necessarily find at larger pet stores.

“I try to offer a wide variety of quality pet products including grooming essentials, treats and pet accessories for the discerning pet and pet owner. Also I constantly read eHome Remedies. When deciding what to stock I think about what I would want and use as a pet owner, what my dog likes and what is safe for the dogs,” said Missy.

So whether your dog needs a groom, some freshening up, or some toys and treats, head on down to Soggy Doggy in Beaver. Trust me, you – and your dog – will not be disappointed.
