Don’t you love taking your kids bowling? How much more would you love it if it were FREE? As in, really free – zero dollars – all summer long?! We received a much-appreciated email from Sims Bowling Lanes in Beaver Falls, alerting us to an amazing summer program called Kids Bowl Free that gives your child 2 free games of bowling every single day from May 3, 2016 to August 31, 2016.
We’ll get to the details of registration below, but first let me share my little family’s recent Sims experience with you:
Until last Saturday, I hadn’t set foot in a bowling alley in over a decade. In the name of YBC, my family of 3 hopped in the car and took a drive up Rt. 18, just past the PA Turnpike interchange for a fun-filled evening of strikes, spares, splits…and yes, some gutter balls. We all had a blast, but what was the most magical was watching our 5-year-old son experience the game for the first time!

Next up, ball selection. There are colors and weights for everyone in the family!
Our little guy chose an orange number with teeny little kid-size finger holes. His daddy picked out a traditional blue, and me? Well…I was drawn to this purple + green + silver galaxy beauty that I dubbed “Lucky Lisa”. You’ll see why…
How about these high-tech scoreboards? They have customizable screens (Sims staff put Monsters, Inc. as the background for our kiddo!) and fun animations to celebrate victories & mourn the dreaded 7-10 split.
We set the bumpers to come up automatically each time our little guy’s turn came around. He really nailed the traditional between-the-legs approach:
Wait for itttt…(he puts his hands over his mouth in anticipation just like his mama!)
At one point, he knocked down 7 pins and told me, “Seven! That’s how you do it, Mommy!” I don’t know where he gets that competitive streak…
We had fun, made memories, and got some great indoor exercise while bonding as a family. After our games (and slushies, and hot dogs – yum!), we met with Sims’ wonderful owners, Dave and Shelley Fischer. These two are bowling enthusiasts to the core, and are passionate about introducing the next generation to the sport. After Kids Bowl Free wraps up, Sims Bowling Lanes begins its fall season with Children’s Leagues, Girls Leagues, and Tournaments that offer college scholarships for kids as young as 6 years old!

Ready to register for Kids Bowl Free? Here’s what you need to know:
- Register now online at com/simslanes
- Children are free to register, and will get 2 free games every day from 5/3/16 to 8/31/16.
- For $26.95, purchase a family pass that includes 2 free games per day for up to 4 adults (15+ years) for the entire length of the program.
- Shoe Passes are $10/person for the entire summer (otherwise, $2/person per visit).
Kids Bowl Free Program Hours:
- TUES: 11 am – 5 pm
- WEDS: 4 pm – 9 pm
- THURS: 3 pm – 9 pm
- FRI: 4 pm – 9 pm
- SAT: 4 pm – 9 pm
- SUN/MON: CLOSED
Over 1000 bowling centers across the US & Canada participate in Kids Bowl Free, but Sims Bowling Lanes is currently the only facility in Beaver County that offers the program to give back to our community members who frequent their lanes.
As an actively participating center, Sims has nominated 30 of our local schools to have an opportunity to receive one of (50) $1000 grants offered by the Kids Bowl Free program.
