You know those people who say that they enjoy living here because of the exposure to each of the four seasons? Well I’m not one of them. I absolutely hate winter. I hate being cold. I hate writing checks to Columbia Gas. And I really hate when it snows.

However, there is actually one glimmer of hope that will be getting me through winter this year, when it inevitably shows up. And that is the fact that I have a new car with some really awesome winter weather features.

Now I’m not suggesting that you should buy a new vehicle just because it’s going to start snowing soon…but if you are thinking about it anyways, you should definitely check out some of the great winter weather features that are available today.

Here are some of my favorite features on my new car, and some features I still wish I had!

The Infamous Remote Start

We’ve already talked about getting a remote start installed on your existing vehicle, but these bad boys are so popular that they are pretty much standard features on many new vehicles today.

And let me tell you from experience, being able to start your new car from inside and then get into it ten minutes later is an unbelievable experience.

Heated Seats

When Mrs. YBC got a vehicle with heated seats a few years ago I never understood why she was so impressed with them…until I started turning them on in my new Maxima. Wow.

Having a remote start to warm up your car before you get into it is great, but having heated seats to warm you up once you are in is even better!

Heated Steering Wheel

I honestly didn’t even know this features existed when I bought my car, but now I simply could not survive without it.

Even with remote starts and heated seats, it can sometimes feel like the freezing cold steering wheel is sucking the life right out of you. But having a heated steering wheel reverses that feeling and provides additional warmth right where you need it the most!

Four Wheel Drive

Before deciding on my Maxima, I was also looking at Jeep Wranglers and Dodge Ram trucks…primarily because four wheel drive would make me a lot less likely to get stuck in a snow bank this winter.

I have the kind of job where I can’t not show up…even when it snows. So being able to get around no matter what is a huge deal to me. Four wheel drive would be extremely helpful in that department.

High Clearance

Another reason I was drawn to the Jeeps and trucks was for their high clearance. I don’t have any intentions of driving off-road, but when you live in downtown Monaca and park on the street, getting plowed-in becomes a way of life.

With a high clearance vehicle that also had four-wheel drive, I could plan on spending a lot less time digging my car out after the friendly plow truck cruises through.

Once again, I realize that none of these features are good enough reasons on their own to purchase a new vehicle. But if you happen to be thinking about it anyways, they definitely make it worthwhile to pull the trigger now instead of in the spring!
