With all that’s transpired over the last several weeks, it’s easy to forget about 2020 being a census year. And the U.S. Census Bureau is hiring, and they pay pretty well. The positions that are currently open are for a census taker or supervisor with a pay rate for Beaver County of $18.50 – $20.50 per hour and $.58 per mile. These positions are tentatively scheduled to start mid-late May. Anyone interested must apply online at www.2020census.gov/jobs.

The data collected helps determine how more than $675 billion in Federal funds each year will get distributed to states and communities. These funds support critical services including transportation, education, health care, and food assistance. The resulting population totals also determine the allocation of the 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
