heirloom-1

Last night was the very first time that the majority of the people who contribute to Your Beaver County all got together in person. Despite working together for seven months now, most of us had never met each other in real life. This meeting was designed to change that.

Since we have been raving about their reuben for weeks now, Heirloom was naturally our first choice for a location. With their BYOB rules, we made sure to bring plenty of beer and wine, which contributed to us all having a whole lot of fun.

While I had never met the majority of the team in person, once we got past the “nice-to-finally-meet-yous” we jumped right into carrying on like old friends. We met right at 6 pm, but didn’t finish talking until almost 9 pm.

Over the course of dinner we discussed all of the big ideas we have for the future like outdoor dinner events, rib cookoffs (yes, I really did challenge Chef Rich from Heirloom….and I’m definitely going to lose that one), our upcoming series on local burgers, and tons of other great ideas for articles and events. Some of us even posed for Elena to be featured in the People section.

On a personal note, this entire evening was a little overwhelming for me. To see the site grow from a simple idea into a living and breathing organization filled with creative people who inspire me has been an amazing experience.

As for our next meeting, we don’t have a set date or location yet, but we all agree that there needs to be one. We will be sure to keep you posted on that!
