Next Saturday is the perfect storm of Beaver County-ness.  Two of our biggest events of the year are held not only in the same month, not only in the same weekend, but on the SAME DAY.

That’s right, folks.  The Beaver Falls Car Cruise AND Garrison Day in Beaver will both be held on Saturday, June 8th.  Whether you like classic cars or crafts and antiquing, there is something for everyone!

Why they continue to use the same date year after year when so many people would like to attend both, I’ll never know.  But anyway, here are some details on what you can expect from this glorious day!

The Beaver Falls Car Cruise (formerly known as the Happy Days Car Cruise) is in its 29th year.  With over 3,000 cars, tens of thousands of spectators, and one of the longest cruise lanes in the country, it’s safe to say it’s a pretty big deal.

Free dash plaques and goodie bags will be given out for anyone who wants to bring their vehicle down, and admission is free for anyone who just wants to walk through and admire the classic models.

It runs from 12 pm to 8 pm, but cars are lined up before you even get out of bed!  People drive in from all over the country to show off their babies!  Local DJ’s line the street to play some of your favorite throwback tunes while you enjoy your stroll.

Don’t forget to grab lunch from one of the many food trucks, organization fund-raisers, or local restaurants participating in the day’s fun.  I’ll be having a gyro (or two… one for the baby of course) from Athens!

Garrison Day Show and Sale is in its 41st year, and is one of the largest events of its kind, drawing in over 10,000 visitors with vendors, food and fun.  This runs from 8 am to 5 pm.  Vendor spots have been sold out for weeks, meaning there will be plenty of merchandise to choose from.

Spread out over approximately 6 acres, you’re sure to find a few treasures!  Whether you’re looking for a personalized craft, casually antiquing, or just stopping down to enjoy a beautiful Saturday outdoors, you won’t be disappointed!

To make the day even better, the venue is perfect with shaded parks, not to mention adjacent to the main street of Beaver which is also full of shops and restaurants.  Don’t forget to stop by Witch Flavor for a cone when you’re done to beat the heat!

So which event is your favorite?  Do you try to squeeze both in to your crazy Saturday?!

I’m more of a car cruise girl myself, but I’ve also been known to drop down into Beaver when I need a break from the heat and grab up some summer décor for my porch.

Either way, you can’t go wrong on this beautiful weekend to kick off your summer!  Let us know where you’ll be, and tag us in your photos!  Don’t forget to stop and see me if you make it down to the car cruise. We can get gyros!
