When it comes to improving your golf game, there is no better place to visit than Ironwood Golf Center, located at 3036 Brodhead Road in Center Township. Ironwood is a one-stop destination that features a variety of amenities.

Ironwood officially opened in July of 1995, and is currently owned and operated by PGA golf professional Larry Milosh. Throughout its history, Ironwood has gone through a series of expansions and improvements. Initially, just a driving range and pro shop, it now has a state-of-the-art miniature golf course with three waterfalls, numerous wooden bridges and a picnic area. In addition, an expansive short game area, with chipping and putting greens, was added in 2001, as were covered, heated tees, for year round practice.

The Driving Range

Ironwood’s range is approximately 20 acres. If you are there to hit a bucket of balls, you have three options. The small bucket is $4.00 and has 30 balls. The medium is 60 balls and is $8.00, and the large includes 90 balls and will cost you $10.00. Ironwood also sells coupons that will save you a few bucks. The coupons are $25 and are good for 8 small buckets.  If you are a regular at the range, this is definitely the way to go. Ironwood has several flags for players to hone their skills and dial in the distances on their clubs. These flags range anywhere from 60 yards to 265 yards, and the distances will vary depending on where you are practicing on the range.

Mini Golf

And who doesn’t love mini golf? Their course is one of the most unique in the county. It resembles the mini golf courses in Myrtle Beach or your favorite vacation destination than it does the traditional, old-school courses in the area. Ironwood’s course features the aforementioned three waterfalls, bridges, and lighting for night time play. It is truly unique, and is enjoyable for kids as well as adults. A round will only cost you $5 for adults and $4 for kids.

Outstanding Staff

Since 1997, Milosh’s right hand man in the operation has been Craig Morris. Morris, a Center High School grad and current boys’ golf coach at Central Valley, has been an integral part of Ironwood for the past 17 years. Morris gives lessons, handles the merchandise aspect of the pro shop, and runs the day-to-day operations at Ironwood. Milosh and Morris make a perfect team. They are customer service oriented, and have more knowledge about clubs and club fittings than most golf professionals in the area.

Speaking of fittings, it is essential to have clubs that are custom fit to your specifications. At Ironwood, they custom fit Ping, Mizuno, TaylorMade, Titleist, Nike, Callaway, and Cobra. “Our custom fittings are top notch, and we truly take pride in making sure the customer is hitting the right clubs,” said Morris. When it comes to prices, Ironwood will match or beat any competitor’s price for clubs, such as Dicks or Golf Galaxy.

In addition to Morris being the Central Valley boys’ golf coach, Milosh is the Central Valley girls’ golf coach. Milosh has built a dynasty at Central Valley, winning three straight PIAA championships, a mind-boggling accomplishment in interscholastic sports.

Ironwood also has an impressive selection of shirts, shoes, bags, clubs, balls, and other apparel in the pro shop. If you are looking for a great gift for the golfer in your family, stop by the pro shop and see the great things Ironwood has to offer.
