In Center Township, “business is booming,” as Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown likes to say.

The Shell cracker planet, new roads, a new Columbia Gas training facility, and new businesses are making Center the epicenter of growth in Beaver County. Along the Brodhead Road corridor, or as I like to say, “downtown Center,” two new businesses just popped up in the last couple of weeks.

The Health Cove and Recovery Room are both located at 3645 Brodhead Road, about a half mile from the mall, and adjacent to Beaver County Beverage beer distributor. It’s been said location is everything, and this is one of the best in Center Township. Lisa Hickman, the owner of both businesses, came up with a creative and unique idea to separate these entities, but at the same time, merge their services into one.

Hickman said, “This has been a personal mission of mine to provide what life seems to take away, if you don’t pay attention to it. Your health. Your time for yourself. Your quality time with friends and family.  You need to pay attention to these things, or they will disappear. And it starts with self-care and becoming a more fulfilled, confident, happy person.  That person then brings a new light and compassion into relationships and circumstance, for the greater good. In their homes, at work, you name it. Believe it or not, self-improvement is highly contagious. By helping yourself, you serve as an example for others as to how to do it.  It’s almost like passing a permission slip. Misery likes company, but I believe in the deepest part of my soul that everyone wants to transcend.  I have never heard anyone say, “I can’t wait.  One day, I’m going to be sick and miserable”. The conscious or unconscious goal is health. Happiness. Strength. Its togetherness.”

First, let’s look at the Health Cove.

Health Cove is a vitamin, supplement, and gift shop. It is the perfect place to pick up your favorite supplement, purchase a Young Living essential oil or product, or buy a custom-made gift, many of which are from local artists.  It’s a meaningful gift for a family member or friend.

The Health Cove has access to over 300 brands, meaning if they don’t carry the supplement  in the store, they can order it for you. Most importantly, the Health Cove has health professional accounts with supplement carriers.

Hickman added, “We stay with quality supplements from clean carriers.  Unlike most health food and vitamin/supplement businesses, Health Cove has access to brands that most others do not.  There are very few brands, if any, Health Cove cannot obtain that any other medical practice or chiropractor’s office has on their shelves.  We encourage one-to-one consultation for the purpose of creating a custom order for customers.  We provide this at the most affordable price.  Chances are, we have what consumers are already looking for on our shelves.”

The best part?  Compare the prices for yourself!  They have products for adults, children, and even pets! The Health Cove also hosts workshops for both adults and children. One of the coolest features of the Health Cove is that they offer monthly informational classes. The product, the prices, the service, the education… this is a one-of-a-kind place in Beaver County.

The Recovery Room

The Recovery Room is in the same complex, but slightly separated from the Health Cove. The Recovery Room is where Hickman and other licensed massage therapists offer a plethora of different massages and services to clients. They offer a couples’ massage, mobile massage, can host group events from 3 to 12 people, and also hosts children’s birthday parties ranging from 3 to 12 participants, for children ages seven through adolescence.

In the Recovery Room, clients will have the option for a variety of different choices, such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, four hand massage, or youth massage to name a few. You can also indulge in a hot stone or hot bamboo massage (sign me up!).

One of the coolest things Hickman offers here in the Recovery Room is a massage group event. Bring a group of friends, a couple bottles of wine, and let Lisa and her team of massage therapists go to work on your muscles. Pricing is only $1 a minute or $2/minute depending on the service you choose.  You are not committed to a 30 minute or 60 service.  You choose the amount of time you want worked on.  There is a minimal charge per person ($5.00/person) … so you and your friends can have a fun, affordable night out on the patio and on the massage table.

Hickman went on to say, “There is something for everyone here. Literally. No one is left out.  It makes no difference the age, or what place physically, mentally or emotionally someone may be in when they walk through the door.  They may need assistance with finding the right supplement, or possibly are in need of a service.  We meet people where they are, truly listen to their goal of wellness, and then exceed their expectation.  Because everyone deserves that type of time and attention.”

It’s apparent Lisa Hickman and her team are customer-centered. They are ready to offer Beaver Countians a unique set of services all in one location, while trying to make our citizens healthier and happier.

Hickman described her new business venture as a labor of love. “Creating businesses that focus on wellness and togetherness makes perfect sense. My family has always worked together, and in doing so we have learned love, forgiveness, patience, and strength. Our home was and is always open. I saw how eating right, taking supplements and self-care was absolutely necessary to serve others. As a young adult, I spent a considerable amount of time with a much younger family member who has severe diagnoses and disabilities. There is undeniable evidence to me that alternative medicine and energy work compliment, support, and enhance conventional medicine.  It really is the perfect combination. And anything worthwhile has to be done with passion.  And that precisely describes every professional you will meet at this location. We care. We value education. We support another. You don’t get one practitioner when you visit us. You receive the best we all have to offer.”

Both the Health Cove and Recovery Room are open seven days a week. Monday through Friday 10 am – 8 pm, Saturday 8 am – 4 pm, and Sunday 10 am – 2 pm. Their number is 724-888-9195
