This is the third installment in our “Getting Married in Beaver County” series. In the previous articles, Maura worked with wedding specialist Anne Becker from Center Stage to get all the details on how to budget for your wedding and what you should consider when choosing a venue.
It’s hard to get around the fact that “the cake” is a huge part of planning for a wedding. They definitely aren’t cheap, and every bride wants their cake to look exactly the way it looks in their head. Luckily, we have quite a few options for cakes right here in Beaver County.
I got together with Anne from Center Stage last week to discuss the ins and outs of getting your wedding cake from right here in Beaver County. While most of us only see one or two wedding cakes in a given year, Anne has the opportunity to see anywhere from 50 to 100 every year…so she definitely knows what she is talking about here!
After going through all of my notes, Anne basically has five different options that she recommends:
Located right on Brodhead Road in Center Township, Carol is the name that is synonymous with wedding cakes in Beaver County. If you aren’t following her AMAZING Instagram account, you seriously don’t know what you’re missing. Yum!
Anne describes Carol as “a true professional” and went on to say that her cakes “are always fabulous.”
Chocolates, Sweets & Treats by Rachel
The second local option that Anne suggested was Chocolates, Sweets & Treats by Rachel. Ironically, I had just read Ana’s article about how wonderful Rachel’s products are…so this was perfect timing.
Anne said that Rachel is definitely the person you want to work with if you are looking for something more on the fun, nontraditional side. She is known for her awesome cupcakes and cakepops, which can be surprisingly elegant when decorated and displayed to match the theme of your big day.
Another local option that Anne always recommends to her brides is Kretchmar’s Bakery in downtown Beaver. If you live in Beaver County and don’t know about Kretchmar’s, you need to go there…right now. This is the top-of-the-line bakery in Beaver County and they are famous for dozens of different pastries…in addition to making awesome wedding cakes.
Aliquippa Giant Eagle
Anne also pointed out that Aliquippa Giant Eagle has a really great bakery and said that she has seen some really nice cakes come from them over the years. They also tend to be a lot more budget friendly than some of the more high-end options.
The Small Cake Trick
One of the most interesting things I took away from talking with a legit wedding expert was that you don’t actually have to buy a big fancy cake. Anne said that it is very common for budget-conscious couples to spend on a small wedding cake for their reception festivities and then simply order sheet cakes to be served to the guests. Who would have thought, right?
So no matter what type of budget or style you are looking for, there is an option for you to find the perfect wedding cake right here in Beaver County. All you have to do is ask the right person!
