I knew I was in the right place pretty much the minute that I walked into the College Hill Ice Cream Shoppe.  I asked if I could try two different flavors to decide which one I wanted.

“You can try sixteen!”  Ben said.  “Why stop at just two?!”  Clearly this was my kind of spot.

The quotes on the wall further eluded to the fact that I would really like these people regardless of what their ice cream tasted like.  “Melted ice cream qualifies as a liquid diet.”  I’ll go along with that any day.  “Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy ice cream…and that’s kind of the same thing.”  Abso-friggin-lutely!

College Hill Ice Cream Shoppe

Owned by Ruby Voss and her husband, Ben, College Hill Ice Cream Shoppe is a unique experience. The atmosphere and of course the ice cream itself is top notch.

Normally when I go grab a cone I end up eating it on my drive home, which also means the toddler in the back seat will be covered in a melted mess by the time I get home. Not here. I actually wanted to sit back, relax and enjoy my dessert.

They had a GIGANTIC leather sectional for you to sit on while you enjoy your sweet treats. I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me happier while I’m scarfing down a couple of scoops than to put my feet up and relax.

They also had what looked to be at least a 60″ flat screen for your entertainment pleasure.

The Ice Cream Flavors

Even deciding what flavors to try was a tough one.  Here are some descriptions to get your mouth watering mid-afternoon while you’re reading this at your desk. And the best part is, they let you mix flavors!! You don’t have to pick just one.

They had 16 seriously amazing choices during my visit including:

Cake Batter Fudge:  Cake batter ice cream, chocolate frosting swirl and brownie pieces!

Fat Elvis:  Banana ice cream with chocolate and all kinds of wonderful treats!

Old Fashioned Vanilla:  Award winning, pure vanilla splendor!

BANG! Iced Latte-Da:  Espresso ice cream with fudge swirls, chocolate chunks AND caffeine!

Strawberry:  Fresh, delicious and full of strawberries!

Bourbon Pecan Pie:  Bourbon ice cream swirled with sea salt chocolate fudge ripple & roasted pecans!

Mint Avalanche:  Mint ice cream filled with Andes Candies, Grasshopper cookies and a fudge swirl!

This $&@! Just Got Serious:  Salted caramel ice cream with sea salt fudge and salted cashews.  (Their BEST SELLER!)

Bubblegum:  Tastes just like your childhood bubblegum… except in a cone!

Oregon Blackberry Cheesecake:  Cheesecake flavored ice cream with blackberry swirls!

Ultimate Oreo: Oreo crumb-based ice cream with TONS of real Oreos!

Zanzibar Chocolate:  Made with 3 kinds of chocolate!

Cinnamon Bun:  Cinnamon, graham cracker & icing swirls!

Whitehouse:  Vanilla ice cream with tons of maraschino cherries!

Elk Prints:  Vanilla with fudge ripple and peanut butter cups!

Carrot Mango Italian Ice:  No dairy, no fat, and full of natural delicious juices.  Sweet AND tangy!

Our CHIC Experience

My little fam and I strolled into College Hill ready to get adventurous and try some ice cream. Mind you…we had just finished stuffing our faces at Guisseppe’s, so the fact that we could even shove anything else into our bodies is a feat in itself.

I love chocolate. No if’s, and’s or but’s. While I took a taste of a few others, I of course settled on the Zanzibar chocolate. It was, in one word, perfection. It was rich and refreshing and everything I ever wanted in an ice cream. If you like dark chocolate like I do, this is an absolute MUST-have!

“I want Strawberry, Mommy!”  That’s all my 3-year old monster yelled before he began climbing all over the couch and running around like the wild animal that he is.

Luckily, he liked his ice cream so much that he literally sat still and ate it until there was nothing left… other than on his shirt and in his hair, which our puppy obviously enjoyed cleaning for him. Such a sticky mess!

The hubs got the Ultimate Oreo. Luckily he was in a sharing mood because I got to steal a few licks off his and it was fantastic. Normally with that kind of flavor you just get vanilla with some crumbled cookies. Not here. It was actual OREO ice cream, which I didn’t even know existed… with quite possibly an entire cookie in every bite. Fantastic.

If you love ice cream like we obviously do, I would absolutely recommend coming down to Beaver Falls to check out the College Hill Ice Cream Shoppe.

It’s incredibly convenient for us as well because it’s right in the middle and we don’t have to drive out to Chippewa or to Beaver. Give it a look when you’re trying to decide where your next sweet treat is coming from. I know we’ll be back!
