Indoor cycling, commonly referred to as spinning, isn’t quite a “thing” yet in Beaver County. But come mid-January, that’s about to change.

Fitness enthusiasts will be jumping for joy with the opening of Club Cycle in Hopewell Shopping Center. If you have never heard of Club Cycle, that’s because they only have one location in the South Hills neighborhood of Castle Shannon.

Now, they will open a second location in the same space that Dinardo Fitness occupied in the shopping center along Brodhead Road.

The Club Cycle Experience

Club Cycle is, in one word, unique, when compared to other spin studios.

According to their website, they are the only spin studio in the world that has live DJs. Confused? Don’t be. It’s not false advertising.

They have live DJs spinning up-tempo beats while you’re spinning miles and miles on your stationary bike.

If that’s not enough, Club Cycle has an intelligent lighting system that changes to the beat of the music. Still not impressed? They have giant screens that post your performance data as you ride, however this part is optional and you may opt out.

The Benefits of Spinning

Spinning has many, many benefits. First and foremost, it’s an intense cardiovascular workout. For 45 minutes, your legs, heart, and lungs will get the ultimate workout. If you think riding a stationary bike is easy, it’s not. You continuously change the resistance of the bike during the session under the guidance of the class instructor. A 45 minute spin class can burn up to 500 calories.

A workout like this will blast away any fat and unwanted pounds you add during the holiday season. Spinning also helps you to build muscle tone in your core, legs, and thighs. Adjusting the tension in the bike can really increase your muscle tone even more.

It’s also low impact, so it doesn’t put a lot of stress on your aching joints.

If you’ve never taken a spin class before, you want to make sure you bring a lot of water and a towel. But if you forget your towel, Club Cycle has them on hand for you to use. You can also wear cycling shoes, but they are not required. Your regular sneakers will work just fine.

Check Out Their Website

Club Cycle has a pretty cool website where you can go to purchase your packages. It’s located at clubcycleonline.com. Here, you can sign up for their mailing list, buy your class package, and reserve your spot in whatever class you plan to join.

Their schedule at their new location in Hopewell is to be determined, but right now in Castle Shannon, they offer a 5:30 am class three times a week, and then additional classes in the morning, late afternoon, and evening.

I already purchased my package, so now I’m eagerly anticipating the opening of Club Cycle. There will even be a smoothie and coffee bar, and milkshake shop inside the new Club Cycle. This front lounge area features healthy smoothie options and amenities such as free WiFi, plenty of seating with a music video watching lounge area, and a 350 gallon fish tank.

There’s no doubt that this will be a great addition to the fitness scene in Beaver County in 2016.
