chippewa-township

My honey & I are both Beaver County natives, but have only lived in Chippewa for 3 years. We love it here! It’s the perfect blend of quiet neighborhood and close proximity to shopping centers and I-376. And soon, we’ll be celebrating Chippewa’s 200th Anniversary with the rest of the community – come join us and see why our township has been an awesome place to live since 1816!

When: Saturday, July 23rd & Sunday, July 24th

Where: Wright Sports Complex at Veterans Park – 3838 37th Street Ext. Beaver Falls, PA

The 2-day event will be filled with food, music, door prizes, fireworks, a car cruise and fun for the kiddos! Be one of the first 500 people on Saturday or Sunday to get a free 200th anniversary gift!

Here are some of the highlights to look forward to:

Scavenger Hunt

Follow a clue sheet to gather feathers from participating locations in Chippewa and create your own Indian headdress to display at the celebration. People will vote for their favorites, and the Top 3 will receive a special prize! Winners will be announced Saturday at 3:00.

The scavenger hunt actually starts before the celebration. Participant packets are available at the Township Municipal Building until July 18th. Completed headdresses must be returned by July 20th to qualify.

Children’s Activities (Sat. Noon – 9, Sun. Noon – 5)

Chippewa VFD will have fire truck demonstrations – bring your little firefighter for an up-close Touch-A-Truck experience!

Lots of kid-friendly activities will keep everyone happy, including:

  • Petting Zoo
  • Balloon Artists
  • Face Painting
  • Magic Demonstrations
  • Jumps & Slides
  • …and more!

Wright Field Dedication (Sat. 1:30)

The Wright family will be presented with a plaque in appreciation for helping to create Chippewa’s amazing new sports fields at the Wright Sports Complex. Attend the ceremony to learn about the park’s history and future plans for development.

Stick around for exhibition games – midget football & soccer on Saturday at 2:30, and flag football on Sunday at 1:00.

Food & Vendors

What Beaver County event is complete without awesome eats from local restaurants & food trucks? Bring on the gyros and hand-squeezed lemonade!

Local artisans and crafters will be there with handmade gifts, clothing, and toys; and expect to see tents from the small businesses that make our community thrive.

Movie Under the Stars (Sat. 9:00)

Bring a blanket & grab the popcorn for a summertime show!

McKinley Schoolhouse (Sat. & Sun. Noon – 5:00)

Just up the road, the one-room McKinley Schoolhouse will be open to the public for tours. Thank the dedicated volunteers for letting us catch a glimpse of what life was like for Beaver County students in the late 19th/early 20th century!

Music & Entertainment

Enjoy daytime tunes by DJ Bruce Matteo, and stick around for live concerts by local artists!

Saturday: Vanessa Campagna (4:30 – 5:30) & The Brighton Boys (6:00 – 7:30)

Sunday: Double Edge (1:00 – 4:00)

Worship Service (Sun. 10:30 – 11:30)

Sunday services will be held at the park before festivities begin.

Car Cruise (Sun. Noon – 6:00)

If you’re a fan of horsepower, chrome, and carbureted motors, you don’t want to miss this.  Hot rods, antiques, and race-ready machines will leave you wishing you kept that old Chevelle that you had as a kid…

Contact Theresa at 724-847-2705 if you’d like to participate with your vehicle.

Author’s note: owner of the Back to the Future replica DeLorean that was at Happy Days, please be there! BEST. CAR. EVER.

Fireworks (Sat. 10:30)

Fireworks shows in Chippewa are always amazing. The Wright Sports Complex sits on a hill, so wherever you sit, expect to have a fantastic view!

I’m proud to be a Chippewa resident – our township is a wonderful place to raise a family, stay active, and enjoy our community’s heritage. All are invited to the bicentennial celebration, so mark your calendars and bring the kids for a fun-filled Beaver County weekend!
