Any time that I find myself heading towards the Hopewell side of Beaver County, I go out of my way to make sure that it just happens to coincide with lunch or dinner time. That is because Harold’s Inn on Brodhead Road in Hopewell is one of my favorite places to eat!
I’ve been having great meals at Harold’s for pretty much as long as I can remember. As a child, I would get so excited to sit in the back dining room where you could watch the chef cook over an open flame. As a young adult, I loved sitting outside on their heated patio. Lately, my preference has been to occupy a stool at their inside bar for a quick lunch.
The restaurant is open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm every Tuesday through Thursday, from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm every Friday and Saturday, and from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sundays. They are closed on Mondays.
The History of Harold’s Inn
Harold’s Inn was founded by Rod and Louise Hineman, and is known for introducing “mountain-style” chicken wings to the Beaver County area. Their unique dry rub seasoning is highly regarded throughout the county. They also used this dry seasoning to make their unbelievable potatoes that they simply call “taters.”
Over the years, Harold’s has grown and expanded their menu to include a number of other items like flame-grilled seafood, ribs, steaks, and pasta. With more than 50 years under their belt, they have pretty much perfected every item on their menu, so you can feel comfortable ordering anything they serve!
Chicken and Taters
When I visit Harold’s Inn in Hopewell, there is never a doubt about what I am going to be ordering: chicken and taters. However, I do sometimes switch up the type of chicken that I order. My go-to option is the blackened chicken dinner, which features two cajun-style blackened chicken breasts and is served with taters and a side salad.
If I am in the mood to switch it up, one of my other favorites is their garlic chicken wings. At Harold’s, you have the option of ordering the full wings or the smaller sectioned “wingettes.” I go with the wingettes because they are less work.
Another great way to enjoy Harold’s chicken and taters is to get a take out order for a family picnic. This is a great option because Harold’s sells both their chicken and taters in family sizes that make ordering for a big group really easy!
If you are looking for a great place to host your next family or work party, Harold’s Inn can handle that too! They have many different options available for parties of all sizes and for all types of events.
The next time you are in the Hopewell area and are in the mood for an outstanding “mountain-style” meal, make Harold’s Inn your choice and I assure you that you will not be disappointed in the quality of your food!
