• 10 Questions with Father Martin Bartel of Saint Frances Cabrini Parish

Father Martin is not a native to Beaver County. He came here almost two years ago to assist Father Kleppner, and eventually transitioned into his role as pastor. Recently, I was able to sit down with Father Martin for a Q & A.

  • Local Author Spotlight: Grandma Jeanie Beanie and the Love Names

During one of my very often moments of Facebook scrolling, up pops a picture of an adorable kids book under the ‘Suggestion’ category. The book cover looked adorable, so I checked it out in more detail.

This book, Grandma Jeanie Beanie and the Love Names, was written by Kathy Bingle, a resident of Beaver! I was able to talk to her and get a copy of her book for the Beaverhausen kids (which they loved, btw). As soon as we read it, I knew that I wanted to write about her and let the YBC readers in on her book too.

Extraordinary is defined as beyond what is usual, ordinary, or regular. Exceptional in character; noteworthy; remarkable. Every once in a while, we meet people who are so extraordinary, we never forget them. Five years ago, I was watching one of my favorite shows, 60 Minutes. During this particular episode, they profiled a small group of people […]

  • The Wolf of Aliquippa: Frank Catroppa, CEO

Frank Catroppa isn’t your typical CEO. He’s down to Earth, friendly, polite, and soft-spoken. But when it comes to his business, he’s more Jordan Belfort than he is Bill Gates. Just call him, “The Wolf of Aliquippa.” Catroppa can be looked at as the new standard-bearer for the young, progressive, entrepreneurial Beaver County and the […]
