This is a guest contribution from Kathy B. and the Beaver Valley Artists.

The Beaver Valley Artists, once known as the Association of Valley Artists and Craftsmen, is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a special Best of BVA Exhibit. The exhibit will open October 2, 2016 from 1 – 4 pm with free refreshments at the Merrick Art Gallery in New Brighton.

The group was established to promote local artists and exhibits, to study and practice original visual arts, and develop community interest and appreciation of original art. BVA meets on the second Thursday evening of the month at the Merrick Art Gallery. In fact, the original name for the group was the Merrick Art Club.

Along with sponsoring a yearly juried art show, the group has demonstrations of a variety of visual art each month that are free and open to the public. They hold special exhibits and take field trips. They also can be seen around the county plein air Painting in good weather.

The public is invited to the opening on October 2, and the exhibit will be on view at the Merrick Art Gallery till October 28.
