Anastastia Beaverhausen Anastasia Beaverhausen is a married, stay-at-home mom of three kids. She was born, raised and still lives in downtown Beaver. Her main goals in life are making sure everyone lives through the week, the house doesn’t end up condemned, and teaching two (so far) small people how to “people” properly. In her free time, Ana enjoys running, knitting and gardening, although free time is a pretty tough thing to come by these days. Follow her on twiter @bcBeaverhausen!
  • The Second Annual Beaver Wine Festival Wine Fest in the Beav’ is back for a second year and it will be even better than it was last year! Some things are the same, some things are new, but let’s just all agree that all of the things are awesome.

  • Collective Goods: Get More, Give Back Over the past 25 years, Books Are Fun has given back over half a billion dollars (that’s billion, with a B!) in money and goods. These funds have been raised from a total of 351,000 events nationwide. That’s a good bit of givin, amiright? When your workplace holds an event, you decide where the money goes. Do you want to raise funds for a company party? Or do you partner up with a nationally recognized charity? What about a local fundraiser? Whatever you chose is fine with them. They will be sending the check to whomever you choose.

  • Hallowed Grounds: Where Beaver County Gets “The Good Stuff” I want to talk about coffee. Delicious, caffeinated beverage that wakes you up and keeps you pleasant throughout the day. The Nectar of the Gods. The reason millions of people don’t fall asleep at their desk after lunch. But I don’t want to talk about just any old coffee. No NO. What I want to talk about is the good stuff… Hallowed Grounds.

  • What Do You Think About Waffles Inc. in Beaver Serving Beer? There was a pretty huge council meeting a few nights ago in Beaver. This one was about the recent pairing of Waffles Inc. with Beaver Brewing Co., and the ability to have beer served in the dry town of Beaver. The Mister and I decided, along with a few friends, to go check it out to see exactly what all the hubbub was about. And boy, was there some hubbub!

  • A Dinner Out That Turns Out Just Right Tonight, the YBC team had dinner. I am not going to comment on the restaurant (because that article is coming – but know, it was deeelish). What I am going to comment on are the details. The details on the YBC team and what makes for a dinner out that turns out just right.

  • Hannah Daman: Beaver County’s All-American Linebacker Hannah began the season as a starter at Inside Linebacker and Special Teams. From here, she kicked some serious butt. She led the Passion’s Defense with 95 tackles for the season (whaaat?!!? 95?!) and she ranked 2nd overall in the whole league in tackles. THE WHOLE LEAGUE. Out of 45 other teams, she was second. Boom, Hannah!! Get. It. Girl!

  • Sweet Supplies: Deliciously Helpful With All Things Sweet Sweet Supplies has been owned and operated by the mother-daughter team of Pam and Pat for the last 18 years. Pat, the mom portion of the duo, is the chocolate maker. Pam, the daughter, heads up the retail area and is not allowed in Pat’s workshop, or at least that’s what she told me. Pat said that wasn’t true.. but then Pam just rolled her eyes. These two were hysterical and I loved every second of talking with them!

  • The New Face Behind the Counter at Kathleen’s in Beaver If you have been in Kathleen's over these last 33 years, you know what sort of quality products she carries. Home decor, gifts, local beeswax candles, just to name a few. But since April 1st of this year, there is a new "Kathleen." The former owner decided it was time to retire so she handpicked a new face to run things. This new face is Jody McKay.

  • Special Occasions in the Middle of Nowhere at Clifford’s Restaurant Sometimes in life it is imperative to celebrate with a great meal. Not, like.. just a good meal. I’m talking, hands down, one of the best meals you will eat. That is a huge statement to make, especially knowing two things. 1. How much I love food and 2. How many claims I have made to something being the best.

  • Another Recent Addition to Bridgewater: Beaver Bagel Co Next up on the "Beaverhausen 2016 Tour of Bridgewater," yet another new business! You may have heard me rave about them in a few of my past articles, but I assure you that it is all true. Beaver Bagel Co has opened its doors! Bagel lovers throughout the county, rejoice! No longer do we have to settle for some crappy bagels in plastic bags that have probably been sitting on a store shelf for weeks. And we sure don’t have to drive to get subpar chain bakery bagels anymore. These are handmade, local, and really the best you will have in, well, ever? That is a Beaverhausen guarantee, folks.

  • AK Nahas: The Only Place Beaver County Goes for Appliances AK Nahas has been a staple of Beaver County for 75 years. The store in Vanport has been there forever – at least for as long as I can remember. My parents shopped there. My grandparents did too. Why? Because they are the best around, really. Free delivery, set up, and removal of your old stuff is always included. They price match (did you know that?!), they have rebates and sales, and they get you the best price around. For a small business, this one can’t be beat!
