Meet Mark Holp
Holp, who resides in Center Township, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to MLS. He’s only been with the company for three years, but he’s actually been in the mortgage industry for the better part of his working career.
In June, 2012, Chris asked me if I would like to join the MLS staff as a mortgage originator. I had been away from the mortgage industry for a couple of years, but was looking to get back in with a reputable company.
The opportunity came along at the right time and I’m happy that I made the choice to join MLS.”

Mark’s day-to-day responsibilities include speaking with new clients, following up with existing clients, touching base with their valued real estate agents, and reviewing loan files with their lenders.

Getting Your Ideal Mortgage
As an expert in the industry, I asked Mark to give our readers some tips on securing the mortgage they want.
First and foremost, consumers should have a good idea of their credit score. A lot hinges on your credit score, and consumers can improve that by paying their bills on time (i.e. water, sewage, all utilities, cell phone, etc.) and paying off any charge-offs, judgements, and collections they might have incurred.
Second, consumers should seek the services of a professional real estate agent who will help in finding them a home that fits all of their needs, as well as guide them through the home buying process. Third, consumers should be ready to provide W-2’s, paystubs, bank statements, tax returns, and other financial information to the mortgage lender when they apply for the mortgage.
Finally, Mark added,
The most common misconception about our industry is that the consumer needs to have ‘excellent’ credit to get a mortgage.
While there are limitations, we can often times help clients with lower credit scores obtain a mortgage.
A second misconception is that consumers think that they can’t afford a mortgage if they are in a lower income category.
With interest rates being at historically low levels, homeownership is an affordable reality for many more families.”
